This is my darling sweet girl. She's never heard of Steven Tyler, but she wanted feathers in her hair like him...or I guess you could say like every other girl on the planet. How proud Steven should be...little girls want to look like him. (am I the only one laughing at that...giggle).
So, one day I went to get my hair done (featherless I'll say...for now...LOL). Laiken wanted to go with me because she wanted more feathers and the latest...tinsel!! I tried to explain it to Dave and yes I used the phrase, "like on a Christmas tree." What colors? Where to put them? All of these are important questions to ponder...
Now I should warn you that these are real feathers that are dyed many colors. BUT, please don't tell these birds who nested in our old grill (below). They have enough to worry about since we are throwing out this grill this week...and well, they are still babies. AND, please don't tell their momma because she is still recovering from Dave holding one of these up ON HIS FINGER for me through the window and telling me they can almost fly.
Oh, and also don't let these baby robins catch wind either. They can barely open their eyes, but we can really see them quite well. They've nested in our dying, nearly leafless, red tip photinia.
And although Dave refrained from "handling" these, their momma also had a slight heart attack with the man being so close to her nest.
But you can tell this sweet girl how real those feathers are all you want!! She picked a lime green and teal feather for one side, and another lime green with 3 rainbow tinsel strands for the other side (it's the shiny you see...be sure to look if you see her).
I'm sure with Dave "handling" the baby birds and Laiken wearing feathers in her hair, the birds around here have worries about living so close to us! I mean, if you were a bird, would you?
